Can dogs eat plain yogurt?

In moderation

Small amounts of plain, unsweetened yogurt suit many dogs, but lactose and sweeteners are the checks.

Plain, unsweetened yogurt is generally described as tolerable for many dogs in small amounts. The documented checks are lactose, which some dogs handle poorly, and sweeteners: flavoured or sugar-free yogurt may contain sugar or xylitol, the latter being toxic to dogs. Low-fat, plain versions are the ones usually mentioned.
